Muscles are an important part of our body, and without muscles, one would neither be able to walk nor to talk, and, quite literally, the blood would stop flowing within the body if our muscles did not work. In fact, muscles can be referred to as the 'engine' within our body, which we utilize in order to 'propel' ourselves by converting 'energy' into 'motion'. Anything that the brain conceives of doing is in fact carried out by muscles, and since they are long lasting, as well as self healing, and will keep growing stronger if they are used more, they form an incredibly sophisticated piece of machinery within the living body, and must be treated as such. There are three unique types of muscles within a mammal's body, and these are: the skeletal muscles that contract voluntarily, and are attached to the skeleton and come in pairs, the smooth muscles of the digestive system, etc., that contract involuntarily, and the cardiac muscles of the heart, which are also involuntary muscles. (Freudenrich, How Muscles Work)
The basic function of any muscle is that of 'contraction', and a muscle is generally made up of a bundle of 'fibers'. A fiber in turn contains numerous 'myofibrils', or in other words, 'muscle proteins', which allow the muscle to perform its task...
There are many different types of website that talk about biology; some of them include university websites which allows access to differing portals of biological information. Such websites as University of Michigan's "biology resource network" is an important source of information for all access to biology articles and databases from U. Of Michigan scholars and professors. Other websites include organization websites such as those of the American Society of
The blood with the IgG must be effectively removed from the body, or reduced to levels that will not allow the cells to be a danger to the infant. If caught early enough, plasma transfers for the mother can result in enough of a reduction of IgG levels to forestall the effects to the fetus. 8) Autoimmune diseases occur when, for a variety of reasons, the body responds to its own
They are responsible for dysfunction of neuromuscular transmission giving rise to a condition of muscle weakness which is accentuated by exertion. In most cases, CMS begin in early childhood but later onset in adulthood is possible. Severity also varies from severe with respiratory failure to mild expression. (Richard, P, et. Al., 2004, p. 81) The results of the author studies proved through the use of the SNP markers that a
Probably one of the most important elements of this research is that the antibodies from the b-cells attack only the cancer cells, not the surrounding healthy cells, and so, they are far less invasive and intimidating than other types of treatment like radiation or surgery. The drug Rituxan is also used in concert with other treatments to gain the best results in more patients, and the only downside so far
M. tuberculosis can extend to other tissues or organs such as the lymph nodes, joints, skin, bones, the central nervous system, the urinary tract and the abdomen. The host immune reaction to M. tuberculosis originally involves the employment of activated macrophages to the site of infection in the lung, where they can form a tuberculous granuloma that serves to restrict the infection. Bacteria that are trapped in the granuloma
Alternative Medicine: The Biology and Business Aspects Alternative medicine industry is one of the latest business opportunities that show rapid progress in the current economy. This type of business becomes a new trend in the world of medicine and modern health care. Many of the medicines had probably been invented in the traditional health care customs, ages before modern medical management took place. Despite the reality, scientific institutions and pharmaceutical companies
